Chateau Cottage was built in 1867. It is a cosy two bedroomed stone cottage located in the Usk Valley nestling between the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons. There is a beautiful scenic riverside walk from the cottage to the nearby Georgian town of Crickhowell which takes around 30 minutes.

Crickhowell is approximately a mile from the cottage and has a variety of shops and restaurants that specialise in local products.

The local public house and restaurant - the Bell Inn - is only a 10 minute walk from the cottage and children and dogs are very welcome. The food is excellent as are the local ales and cider, and they also have weekly quizzes and folk music. Well worth a visit after a hectic day walking.

There are many good walks directly from the cottage - including Sugar Loaf and Table Mountain.

Accommodation

The cottage is very well equipped and has full central heating. The ground floor is open plan with a dining kitchen and lounge area. The kitchen has a gas hob, electric fan oven, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and washing machine.

There are two comfortable sofas in the lounge area with a TV which has Freesat and a DVD player, as well as games, books and DVDs. And the cottage has an internet connection for those visitors who want to keep in touch with friends and family or check out the many activities in the local area.

The shower room and separate wc are also downstairs.

Outside the cottage there is a secure half acre garden which is very safe for both dogs and children. The lawned garden has a table and chairs and a barbecue. There is also a further patio area that has a table and chairs.

There is ample parking space, with a safe lock up area for bikes, as well as the use of two mountain bikes.

Heating, electricity, linen and towels are provided, as well as a cot and high chair if required.

Local Area

As well as the many scenic walks, within close proximity there is horse riding, golf, fishing and tennis. The cottage is also close to the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal as well as Llangorse Lake, where boats can be hired on a daily basis.

The market town of Abergavenny is 5 miles from the cottage and Hay-on-Wye and Brecon are less than a 30 minute drive.
