Portclew House is a handsome Georgian Country Mansion set in three acres of grounds. It's an ideal location in the Pembrokeshire National Park, just a stone's throw to the beautiful bay at Freshwater East.
Whether your stay is for business or pleasure, you will find the friendly, comfortable surroundings most welcoming.
Bed and Breakfast
We have seven en-suite bedrooms including family, double, twin and single rooms. All have TV, hairdryers and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. Cots, highchairs and ironing facilities are available on request.
A good, hearty Aga cooked Breakfast will start your day. On more pleasant days you may wish to eat al fresco on the balcony which adjoins the dining room. The house is non-smoking.
The character cottages are set in the grounds of Portclew House Country Guesthouse. Each cottage has parking space and either a garden or patio area with patio furniture. Guests are welcome to use the extensive lawns where ball games can be played.
All the cottages are well equipped with washer/dryer, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, TV with freeview, DVD player, hi-fi etc. All bed linen and towels are provided and all heating fuel and electricity is included. The cottages all have oil fired central heating together with a gas/electric fire in the lounge to ensure a warm welcome whatever the season. The cottages are totally non smoking and we do not allow any pets.
Our week commences on a Friday. Short breaks are available on request.
The Coach House Sleeps up to 9
The Coach House was originally a stable for the farm horses and cart house with the stable hands sleeping upstairs. It has four spacious bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bath/shower room, comprising of two double rooms, one twin room and one bunk bedded room. There is plenty of space of an extra bed/cot in one of the double bedrooms, sleeping a maximum of 9 people.
The large well lit kitchen has a range cooker and a large ash dining table which has plenty of room to seat everyone around for those special family meals. There is a spacious lounge with plenty of comfortable seating. The cottage also has a toilet on the ground floor.
Gardeners Cottage Sleeps 2 - 4
Gardeners Cottage has just one double bedroom with room for and extra bed/cot, together with a sofa bed in the lounge area. The bathroom has a bath with shower over and is situate on the ground floor.
It has a well appointed kitchen with pine dining table and chairs, which leads onto the garden. The beamed ceiling gives the lounge area a warm, cosy atmosphere. This outbuilding had been used to store the gardeners tools and equipment.
The Hen House Sleeps 5/6
The Hen House has two large bedrooms, one with a double bedroom and ample space of an extra bed/cot, the other a triple bedroom. There are stairs to both bedrooms and the bathroom is situate on the first floor with a shower over the bath. The name of the cottage speaks for itself and the nesting boxes are still visible in the bedroom, although now just ornamental.
The kitchen/diner has double aspect windows to make it light and airy and there is plenty of room the for the family to sit and relax on the leather sofas in the lounge.
The Dairy Sleeps 8plus
The Dairy is a spacious, open plan cottage and is set in a small courtyard next to The Bullpen. The original use for this cottage was as a milking parlour for the dairy cattle with a room for preparing butter etc. The cottage has a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room on the ground floor and a twin bedroom and a quad bedroom on the first floor. All the bedrooms have enough space for extra beds/cots. There is also a bathroom on the ground floor.
The living area is separated from the sleeping quarters by two steps. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen with range cooker and fridge/freezer. The large oak dining table and chairs divides the kitchen from the lounge area, which has plenty of seating available on the leather sofas.
The Bullpen Sleeps 2 to 4
The Bullpen is our most newly renovated cottage and is also situate in the courtyard next to The Dairy. This cottage is on one level and has one double bedroom with space for an extra bed/cot. Off the bedroom you will find a shower room. The kitchen/living area is approached through double glass doors making this room particularly light and airy. The kitchen is equipped with all modern necessities and has a freezer as well as a fridge. The living area, which has an unusual curved wall, has plenty of area to sit and relax and also has a sofa-bed.
We are situated on the coastal footpath and accommodate the walkers in this area by providing packed lunches, clothes drying facilities, luggage collection etc.
Pembroke Town is just a few miles away when a visit to Henry VII's birthplace at Pembroke Castle is a must. Bosherston lily ponds should not be missed nor St. Govan's Chapel.
Within easy reach are the bays at Freshwater East, Manorbier, Tenby, Broadhaven South, Freshwater West and not forgetting the paradise found at the hidden bay of Barafundle.
Families will enjoy a day out at Oakwood Theme Park, just 15 miles away, where some of the biggest UK rides can be found, or at Heatherton Country Park, where you can try your hand at golf, archery, go-karting and paint-balling.
