Originally blacksmith's shop producing fittings for the ship building industry which flourished in the New Quay two hundred years ago, and later converted into a fishermans' cottage, Oyster Cottage has recently been sympathetically restored to provide modern day comfort whilst retaining many original features.

The cottage, less than two minutes from the beach and harbour in the peaceful old heart of New Quay, makes the ideal holiday escape.

The entrance porch opens into the cosy living room with varnished ship's floorboards, two comfortable sofas, a flat screen tv with dvd and cd players, a coffee table and a window seat with wonderful sea views.

The fitted kitchen has shaker-style units, a stainless steel range style cooker with gas hob and electric ovens, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave, dining table and chairs, and a window seat, also with sea views. A corridor to the rear leads to the laundry cupboard where there is also a washing machine.

The ground floor bathroom has a luxurious double ended bath, toilet, wash basin and a deluge shower in its own cabinet. The ground floor cabin bedroom is fitted like a ship's cabin, with bunk beds and nautical antiques.

On the first floor landing is a separate closet with toilet and basin. Off this landing are two bedrooms: one with a king size brass and iron bed with pocket sprung mattress, a chair, a chest of drawers and a built-in wardrobe. There are lovely views across the bay from the dormer window. The second bedroom has a single bed, and sea views too.

Outside, steps lead up to the quarter deck where there's a barbecue, table and chairs, and a views over Cardigan Bay.

Due to its steep steps the cottage isn't suitable for babies or small children, but older children can be accommodated.

Parking: There may be space to park a small car outside but we can't guarantee this. There is a council car park a couple of minutes' walk from the cottage, and between 30 September and 1 April parking is allowed on all the yellow lines within the town.

Sorry, but we don't accept pets, and the accommodation is non-smoking.

The cottage has oil-fired central heating so it's cosy all year round. Rental rates include electricity, bed linen and towels.
