A young mountain pony grazes by the minor road which crosses Gelli-gaer Common between Bedlinog and Fochriw. Beyond are the huge slag heaps left by the Cwmbargoed coal mine and, peering over the horizon, the peak of Corn Du in the Brecon Beacons.
