Tywyn Cottage was voted "Best Place To Stay In Wales " and has been awarded the highest possible grade of 5 stars by VisitWales every year since it opened.
Our adjoining garden was one of the 6 finalists from over 3000 entries in the Royal Horticultural Society ' Best Garden in Britain' competition.
Tywyn self-catering cottage is a peaceful, beautifully furnished and comprehensively equipped cottage in the heart of the mountains of the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, close to Beddgelert. It is surrounded by National Trust land designated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The cottage has a delightful indoor heated swimming pool for your private use. One double, one single and two twin bedrooms, en-suite, and a cosy living room with an open log fire to unwind by after a pleasant day out. Also a very well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher. Tywyn has all the comforts needed to ensure a perfect self-catering holiday: three electric showers, a luxurious bath, satellite televisions in the living room and in all bedrooms, two music centres, a video player with library of tapes, a DVD player, central heating, washing machine and tumble drier and a comprehensive library including maps and guides with well-thought-out suggestions for days out to suit every interest.
Gourmet meals to remember are also offered, served in the cottage and enjoyed by the log fire.
Snowdonia is a perfect area for holidays. At Tywyn self-catering cottage you will enjoy lovely mountain views across wooded hillsides and sheep pastures. The river Glaslyn, with salmon and trout fishing and summer swimming, flows from Snowdon just a couple of hundred meters away. Buzzards wheel and mew overhead, and badgers are regular visitors. Walk from the door into remote and beautiful hills, or take the Sherpa minibus that serves the Snowdon massif and catch a ride back to the door.
The beautifully situated, busy village of Beddgelert is reached by a pleasant walk along the bank of the Glaslyn river through the stupendous gorge of the Aberglaslyn Pass in about 30 minutes.
Great castles, all World Heritage sites, - Harlech, Caernarfon and Cricieth, are within thirty minutes drive. A steam railway chuffs into the hills to the biggest slate caverns in the world.
The amazing Italianate village of Portmeirion is close by, also the sandy beaches and rocky coves of Cardigan Bay. There are ancient copper mines in the hills behind us.
We have riding stables not far away, and you can explore forgotten bridleways and woodland paths on horseback, lunching perhaps at a country pub. Or you can sit quietly and just read and doze by an exquisite tumbling mountain stream behind the cottage.
