This huge standing stone, over 3.5 metres high, is near the head of a pass through the Brecon Beacons between the peaks of Fan Nedd and Fan Llia, a few miles north of Ystradfellte. Dating from the Bronze Age, Maen Llia would have originally served as a waymarker on a route through this valley, part of which became the Roman road 'Sarn Helen'.
