Newport, Gwent
The support masts of the footbridge across the river Usk can be seen from all over Newport. Although the deck is only a little over 4 metres above water level at high tide, the overall height of the structure is 70 metres. It was designed this way to link the site of the bridge with the dock cranes which used to stand next to the trading wharfs.
