On the edge of the Elan Valley, and surrounded in all directions by untrammelled countryside, Rhayader is an excellent starting point for mountain bikers. Just a handful of years ago Clive Powell's was just a small bike shop in East Street. MTB-ing in rural Wales is an increasingly popular sport, and the business is now based in the Cwmdauddwr Arms, a pub on West Street. It's still a pub, offering good food and ales [after the bike ride, if you please!] as well as being home to the bike shop where you can buy decent bikes and accessories, and also hire mountain bikes.
