Hay-on-Wye, Powys
A parallel and complementary event during the annual literary festival is How the Light Gets In, which bills itself as 'the philosophy and music festival at Hay'. Its primary venue is a site directly across the Wye Bridge, just above the River Wye's north bank. The fairground, with its big wheel and helter-skelter, is at the centre of the site, and at night is spectacularly lit.
