1927 Worsley Mesnes horizontal steam winding engine
Cefn Coed Colliery in the Dulais Valley houses a 1927 Worsley Mesnes horizontal duplex cylinder steam winding engine. When the pit was in operation it was powered by an array of six Lancashire boilers, alongside which it sits. Now, as a museum exhibit, it is powered by electricity. This impressive engine attracts engineering students and enthusiasts from around the world.
