Seen here across the northern end of Penygarreg Reservoir, Craig Goch is the most elegant of the dams in the Elan Valley. Why? Well, Caban Coch is somehow too stark, almost unsubtle. Penygareg is in too much shade, and rather intimidating. And Claerwen is simply too modern. The highest of the original system (not counting Claerwen as it's in a different valley), Craig Goch is at an altitude of 1040ft.
