On the end of the old market hall, looking across Castle Square, is this sculpture of King Henry VII. It was created by Edward Folkard in fibreglass and aluminous cement, and has been in its current position since March 1995. This king should not be confused with the 'King of Free Hay' Richard Booth, one-time owner of the castle and several of the town's secondhand bookshops, who proclaimed himsef king as an April fool's joke in the 1970s.
