D 1249 'Llanwern' is one of the diesel locomotives which is resident at the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway. Built in 1968 for use at the Llanwern Steelworks, this diesel hydraulic shunting engine has a 550hp V8 engine. Donated by British Steel, it is the primary engine used for passenger trains on this preserved railway.
