Standing on the site of the old Cardiff Arms Park, the Millennium Stadium is the national stadium of Wales. Seating 74,500 it was the largest stadium in the UK when built. Built for the 1999 Rugby World Cup which was hosted by Wales, its first major event was on June 26 in that year for a rugby friendly between Wales and South Africa.
