Opened in 1997 next to the site of an earlier coal-fired power station, Connah's Quay Power Station, Deeside, North Wales was opened in 1997, having been built at a cost of £500m. It uses a modern design to burn gas - from the nearby Liverpool Bay field - efficiently and quietly, generating 1430mw of power.
