About 70,000 vehicles cross the River Wye at the Whitney Toll Bridge every year. The price is 50p for a car. The first Whitney bridge was built in 1779 but it, and two subsequent bridges, were washed away by flood waters. The current stone and timber bridge was built in the early 19th century, and renovated in 1993.
