Below Caban Coch dam - the lowest of the Elan reservoirs - is the Elan Valley Visitor Centre. It's worth stopping by, especially if it's your first visit, to view the excellent exhibition which will tell you everything about the Valley and its history pre- and post the construction of the dams and reservoirs. It also houses a cafe and shop, and there are toilets and, outside, plenty of parking space and a riverside picnic area with a play area for kids. It closes for winter, and is next open on 20 Feb 2009 from when it will be open every day from 9am to 5.30pm.
