From the village of Llanmadoc it takes about 15 minutes to reach the 180 metre summit of 'The Bulwark', a bracken and heather-clad moor grazed by wild ponies and sheep. From here, on a clear day, the views are stunning in all directions. Thought to date from the Bronze Age, the Great Cairn, which looks more like a pile of rocks, is made up of red standstone blocks and stands at the highest point of the hill.
