Hay-on-Wye, Powys

Hay Castle has over the years been battle-scarred, burnt down, rebuilt, and finally left just as it stands in the centre of the borders' town of Hay-on-Wye. The arched main entrace in the north wall has not been used since the eastern wing of the castle succumbed to fire in 1939.
