Swallow Cottage

In a peaceful Mid Wales valley, set in eight acre grounds which are alive with wildlife, Madogs Wells is ideal a relaxing break. Swallow's Nest is one of our self catering cottages, all of which are wheelchair accessible. Daily rates available on request.

The accommodation

Built in 2006 to our own specification, Swallow Cottage has a large kitchen and dining area, a living room with freesat tv, DVD player and music system, and an accessible bathroom with 10 angled-support rails, roll-in shower, washbasin with wheelchair space beneath, and bath. There is also a separate toilet with washbasin. A wheeled shower chair is available if the static chair is unsuitable for guests. Please let us know.

There are three bedrooms - one with a superking bed, and two twin bedded rooms.

There is oil-fired central heating.

The location

Set in eight acres of countryside, try our scaled solar system walk up a mountain to Pluto or the Woodland walk which skirts a pond, crosses bridges and wends its way around an acre of mixed woodland, bluebells, primroses and wild roses, broom and gorse.

Our area

Within half an hour's drive of Madog's Wells guests can reach Powis Castle, Pistyll Rhaeadr and Lake Vyrnwy. A little further afield is Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) at Machynlleth, and the red kite feeding centre at Gigrin Farm, Rhayader and the Elan are pubs offering good food within 3 to 7 miles of Madog's Wells. Travel info

There is ample parking beside each bungalow. Each bungalow has a ramped approach and level access. All doorways are wide enough for wheelchairs. Each bungalow has a wet room. Access statement available on request.

A car is essential to reach us as we have no public transport within 10 miles. Taxi service can be booked from the train station in Welshpool or Newtown. Parking is directly outside each property, and access to the property is by ramp into a step-free cottage.

Our access statement is available on request. We also have available for guests to borrow during their stay a folding wheel chair, folding wheeled walker, wheeled shower chair, a commode. There is also a hoist available at a weekly charge of £20.

Notes

Our cottages all have ample cooking utensils, china, cutlery, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and first aid kits. All bedding, linen, some towels, tea towels and utilities are included in the prices. There is plenty of space to park, and picnic tables are outside each cottage.

A rotary clothes line, pegs and a washing machine are available for guests' use. Limited wireless internet available.

The rental includes heating, gas and electricity, beds made up, some towels, tea towels, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls, and liquid for washing machines. A deposit is 50% of the total price at the time of the booking (payment by cheques or bank transfer, details on request), and the balance on arrival. Daily rates available on request.

Hoist £20 per week, which is towards payment for servicing.

There is a £15 charge per booking for dogs, maximum 2 please.
