Popular pony trekking base in Rhayader, Mid Wales
The Lion Royal is in the centre of Rhayader. With its Worthington's Ales signs dating from the dawn of such advertising, its signs for pony trekking and its grand cast iron porch-cum-balcony it's like something from another age, and long may it stay so. This inn is unusual in that it still has its own stables, so guests can bring their horse.
