The Shropshire Hills, Herefordshire, Wye Valley, Welsh West Coast and Malvern Hills are 45 to 90 minutes away by car. The Lodge is an ideal stopover for events at the Royal Welsh Showground

The accommodation

The luxury lodge is beautifully finished with excellent facilities.

Open-plan living - the indoor living space is light, airy and spacious with vaulted ceiling and two double French doors. The kitchen boasts a wide range of equipment, including Induction hob, extraction hood, main oven, combination microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine, 4 slice toaster, kettle and comprehensive range of utensils, including a multi-tool stick blender. The dining area has generous seating for 6. This lovely furniture is made from recycled/reclaimed materials. There is also a wine rack, wine fridge and 2 seater breakfast bar. The lounge has two 2 seater sofas and 2 reclinable armchairs. The focal point is the 50 inch HD, 4K Smart TV where you can choose from over 100 satellite channels with recording facilities. The TV has Alexa built in and Bluetooth to connect your devices to play music. There is also a DVD/CD player for films and music. The lodge has its own dedicated Wi-Fi.

Eco-friendly - the central heating and hot water are provided through a state-of-the-art, efficient electric combi boiler, meaning fossil fuels are not consumed by the lodge. The barbecue is also electric. The induction hob is more energy efficient than the standard equivalents. Luxury showers have been installed to use less energy than a bath. Most cleaning agents, soaps and detergents provided are eco-friendly.

Outdoor living - the large main decking area is secluded and surrounded by nature and often by wildlife. There is a two-seater "egg" chair facing the view up the valley, over the field. The dining table has 4 chairs and 4 stools, all with cushions. The stools can double up as occasional tables. When the sunshine fades, the solar powered post lights automatically illuminate to add a cosy atmosphere to the outdoor space and with the outdoor blankets, you can extend your outdoor living time well into the evening.

We have a trail camera, which captures overnight wildlife on short videos. You view these on you phone using an app. You can download them to take with you. Instructions are in the guestbook.

Accessibility - visitors requiring assisted access can look forward to many facilities such as:

Gentle ramp from the parking spaces

Ground level facilities

High level reclining armchairs

High level king size bed with joint supporting hybrid mattress

Optional bedside frame aid

In the en suite there is a folding shower seat, shower handrail and toilet handle. Optional raised toilet seat attachment.

Sorry, the lodge cannot accommodate wheelchairs or wheeled walkers.

The bathrooms boast excellent showers. There is plenty of storage space. Each guest has a welcome shower gel and shampoo. Both bathrooms have shaver sockets, LED downlighters and mirrors.

The master bedroom is en suite with king size bed with hybrid mattress, vanity unit, full length mirror and built in wardrobe with drawers. Bedroom 2 has a double bed and full length mirror and bedroom 3 has twin beds. Both have hotel quality mattresses, built in wardrobes and free-standing towel rails. All bedrooms have bedside cabinets with lights and USB charging sockets.

The location

Field View Lodge is nestled in the hills above the historic market town of Builth Wells, well known for its historic bridge and the Royal Welsh Showground, where many events take place throughout the year. We are located in the beautiful Caer Beris Park in the River Irfon valley. The river runs alongside the park where green fields and woodland are all around you. The park is ideally located to explore many tourist destinations. Conveniently positioned on the north edge of Bannau Brycheiniog (formerly known as the Brecon Beacons), the national park is on your doorstep.

5* Google Review 23rd August 2023:

The lodge is brand new and has everything you need, the beds are very comfortable and the setting is so peaceful. The owners have thought of everything you could need for a stay and I recommend anyone thinking of booking to do it.

The local town of Builth Wells is only a few minutes drive away and the scenery around the wider area is beautiful.

We would happily return again knowing now just how good this lodge is. The owners were so helpful and I'm just pleased we found it when looking for a last minute get away.

Travel info

Option 1: Set Satnav to LD2 3HH. Most of them get you to the park entrance.

From the park entrance, proceed down the drive and take the first left. The lodge is the first one on your left. Look out for the slate sign headed "Field View" Keep left and park in the lodge's own spaces in front of the double French doors.

Option 2: Find your own way to Builth Wells town centre one way system and make your way up the high street. At the top of the rise, the road takes a sharp right, after about 100 yards keep left at the bollard. Immediately turn left into Hospital Road. After about 300 yards the road becomes a lane. Keep going for about a mile and at the top of the hill the park entrance is clearly marked on your right. Follow instructions above to get to the lodge.
