Broad Haven
With its wide, sandy beach and coveted Blue Flag award, Broad Haven is an ideal base from which to explore this stunning part of west Wales. The village itself has a convenience store and Post Office, and several good bar/restaurants and cafes all just a short, level 200 yard walk from Ol Tywydd. Safe, sheltered bathing and an abundance of rock pools make the beach perfect for delight for young families. Wind surfing, sailing, canoeing and sea-angling are all popular activities within the bay and most watersports equipment, including wetsuits, can be bought or hired within the village.
Broad Haven seafront forms part of the 186 mile long Pmbrokeshire coastal footpath which can be explored either on foot or via the Puffin Shuttle bus service. For a more gentle stroll, try Broad Haven's very own 'Slash Pond' nature trail or take a walk through nearby Haroldston Woods. The neighbouring cove of Little Haven, with its own shops, eateries and gallery, is also a short walk away along the beach, but be careful to keep an eye on tide times.
Further afield
Seven miles to the west of Broad Haven is the county town of Haverfordwest with bus and train station, hospital and wide choice of supermarkets and retail stores including a 24 hour Tesco Extra, Aldi, Morrisons and Marks and Spencers. A Farmer's Market takes place every Friday along the riverside. Within easy driving distance are many other Pembrokeshire attractions: head north to the city of St Davids and its beautiful Cathedral or south towards Martin's Haven where boat trips can be taken to Skomer Island to see the Puffins. There is something for everyone in Pembrokeshire.
Welcome pack: Tea, coffee, milk and Pembrokeshire Welsh cakes are left for your arrival along with a small supply of salt, pepper, vinegar, kitchen and loo roll, dishwasher tablets etc.
