The Granary is a newly converted barn situated at the foot of the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Talgarth is the home of the newly restored Talgarth Mill, as seen on the BBC.

Conveniently placed midway between Hay-on-Wye and Brecon, it is ideal for the Hay Literary Festival, Brecon Jazz, the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show and many other local events.

The accommodation

The Granary has been tastefully converted and includes wooden floors and high vaulted ceilings throughout. We offer two luxury double en-suite rooms and a smaller twin room, also en-suite.

Autumn is our larger double with kingsize bed, and its large en-suite has a double size shower. The room looks over the rear of the property and has lovely views towards the Black Mountains.

Summer is a lovely room with its own en-suite bathroom including roll-top bath and double shower, and looks out over the front of the property.

Spring is a smaller room with twin beds and its own en-suite shower room. It looks over the garden at the rear of the property and again has lovely views to the Black Mountains.

All three rooms have new flatscreen tvs with dvds which will play cds too so you can bring your favourite music to relax to, alarm clock, beverage tray, and even hot water bottles for those chilly nights. There is also 32" new tv in the guest lounge.

The Granary has been assessed by VisitWales and we are very proud to have been given the Gold Award for comfort and hospitality for 2010, 2011 2012 and 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The location

A detached property about a mile outside Talgarth, 15 mins from both Brecon and Hay on Wye, a lovely peaceful location with walks and cycle rides from the doorstep. Ideally situated for exploring the Brecon Beacons with great places to eat and drink along the way!

Our area

The National Park has been awarded International Dark Sky status because of the very low light pollution within the park. This, together with the number of clear nights makes The Granary one of the best places to star-gaze in the whole of the UK. Bring your own equipment or if you are starting out, use our binoculars, , sky maps etc to view closeups of the starry heavens. Together with some comfy chairs, snuggly blankets, hot drinks and snacks, what more could you need for a great night out.

We are ideally based for walkers as we have several walks from our own doorstep. Talgarth does mountain biking proud as we have some great routes to offer, from easy/moderate to the only black route in the Brecon Beacons National Park - and it goes straight by our driveway. We offer hearty breakfasts, picnic lunches and drying facilities, evening meals are available by arrangement.
