A pretty, three bedroom, period cottage, situated next to 'The Green' in the village of Murton. Murton is a small village located in the Gower Peninsula of South Wales. Just a 7 minute drive to Mumbles. It is situated on the eastern side of the peninsula. The village is home to a popular local pub, serving delicious fayre, a post office, a well-stocked village shop, and a few other local amenities. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with views of the sea and the nearby Gower Coast. Murton is a popular destination for walkers and cyclists. Caswell Bay is the nearest beach (mile drive) or a 1 mile walk cross country through farmland and woodland, whilst Pwll Du Bay, (5 miles) Brandy Cove Bay (1 mile) and Langland Bay (3 miles) are all a short drive away.

The accommodation

The cottage, which has been thoughtfully renovated, oozes character including exposed timbers and feature fireplaces. Enter into an open plan kitchen/diner which is separated by a breakfast bar. The kitchen has a comprehensive range of fitted units. All brand new and with every implement that you could need to cook a homely meal. The dining area is a perfect place to sit and relax whilst socialising with the chef. We have a high chair and stair gate if needed.

The living room can be entered via the kitchen and will take you to the double aspect sitting room where you will find two comfy sofas, a TV and a feature fireplace (decorative). There are French windows leading onto a pretty, well looked after, walled courtyard garden.

The garden has a large wooden bench with parasol, a lovely place to sit and have coffee, drinks or meals on a fine day. A real suntrap.

Completing the ground floor is a separate WC.

Upstairs on the first floor there are three bedrooms: one king-size and two doubles. One has a wash-hand basin. All of the rooms are beautifully decorated with lovely bedding and towels provided. We also have a travel cot if needed.

There is also a family shower room which has a large walk in shower cubicle, wash hand basin and WC. Again all brand new.

As this is an old cottage, it has fairly steep stairs and narrow doors and so sadly is not accessible for guests with additional mobility needs.

The location

Set in on a beautiful village green in Murton, which is a small village close to beaches, valleys and woods of The Gower Peninsula and Mumbles.

Close to a children's play area, a village store that sells wines, breads and local produce. A bus stop for easy access to the town, the villages and beaches, and an award winning gastro pub. A farm shop opens on Fridays and Saturdays selling the freshest of fruit and vegetables, dairy produce, local jams and chutneys and much more.

The fabulous village of Mumbles is just a 7 minute drive or 2 mile walk away. It is full of lovely shops, bars and restaurants. It has its own glorious castle. 12C, Norman and stone built. There are often open air shows in the grounds. There is also the famous Mumbles Pier. This wooden Victorian structure has all of the fairground attractions that is expected of a Victorian pier. Also the RNLI lifeboat launch house that can be visited.

A walk to Mumbles leads you past Caswell, Langland, Rotherslade and the whole of Mumbles Head with its Lighthouse. Stop at any of these beaches for coffee, ice cream or a full meal.

A 15 minute walk, down a valley to a stunning, family friendly beach, Caswell and then onto the coastal path for the whole of the Gower.

Murton is a popular destination for walkers and cyclists with Caswell Bay, a stunning beach just 1 mile walk cross country, through farmland and woods, whilst Pwll Du Bay, Brandy Cove and Langland Bay within minutes drive away. All of the beaches local to cottage are Blue Flag beaches.

Our area

About a 5 mile drive from Swansea and a bus route. Mumbles and all of the surrounding Blue Flag beaches are accessible by bus, walking or driving. Just 2 miles away, so a 7 minute drive.

There are castles, beaches, coastal paths, and other family friendly activities to be had all around the Gower and Swansea.

Lovely cottage in the centre of the village with a corner shop, pub, supermarket, beach close at hand. Playground across the road and close to both Swansea and the best parts of the gower.

Attentive hosts and spotless rooms.

Perfect, perfect, perfect! I would rate Jacqueline's place over five stars if I could. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated, spacious and so comfortable! The kitchen is perfectly equipped to cook complete meals. Between the farm shop and the village shop next door we lacked for nothing during our three day stay and only wish it had been longer so we could have made the most of the wonderful places to explore nearby Jacqueline is a friendly, thoughtful, and thoroughly excellent host. She has created a lovely holiday cottage and we felt privileged that she chose to share it with us. Highly recommended!!!

Me and my friends spent 3 nights in Rose Cottage. It was beautiful and homely, and was well stocked with everything we needed. Each room was beautifully decorated with unique character, and it's clear the host has an eye for detail. This felt like staying in a loved home rather than a purpose-made holiday let!

The beds and bedding were of a really high quality, and I had excellent restful sleep while I was there. The kitchen had all amenities we could need, and was very high-quality and modern. The garden out the back was full of flowers, and provided a gorgeous setting for a peaceful and private morning coffee.

Only a 20 minute walk to the beach, or a short car ride into town, it's perfectly situated to feel like a countryside retreat without being inaccessible. The host made us feel so welcome and at home, I will definitely be returning here for another stay in the future. Thank you so much for a memorable trip!

This is a really comfy home - spacious, and has everything you would ever need! Its a "home from home" experience. The lovely treats were very welcomed the tasty loaf of bread and the Welsh cakes were a lovely surprise. Well stocked fridge and staple items which was a very nice gesture. The back garden space is really nice to sit out on a summer's evening. The place was lovely and clean. Bathroom is really big and new, great rain shower. Beds were very comfy and the decor was so beautiful and perfect! Child friendly with a selection of jigsaws/games in the lounge. Great communication and easy check in. We had a great time and would love to return one day! The location was excellent only a 10-15 minute drive to all the lovely beaches and Mumbles. There is also Caswell beach which is a lovely coastal walk next door to the house and also a convenient shop next door too! Jacky was a fantastic Superhost and a lovely lady! Thank you for making our stay amazing!
