The Top Floor at Cantref House is an unique self-catering apartment for couples, set in the Brecon Beacons against the stunning backdrop of Pen y Fan, Cribyn, and the Black Mountains. This former rectory is just four miles from the historic town of Brecon, and is an ideal base for exploring the natural splendour of Mid Wales and the Brecon Beacons.
For guests there is a private entrance, separate from the main house, accessible via 26 outdoor steps. The spacious and thoughtfully-appointed living space includes a comfortable lounge area with two sofas, Sky TV and DVD player, reading lamp and views across to Pen y Fan and Cribyn, a well equipped kitchen with a fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, induction hob, oven, kettle, toaster, microwave and plenty of utensils and crockery, a shower room with toilet, and a cosy double bedroom with a kingsize bed.
The apartment has an outdoor balcony area where you can sit out and take in the views, and there is also access to the front lawn area where table and chairs are provided for your use. You have your parking space just below the outdoor steps.
Enjoy a a serene escape amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Brecon Beacons, designated as a dark sky reserve, offering unobstructed views of the night sky. To enhance your stargazing experience, a telescope is available for guest use. There are plenty of walks or hikes direct from the doostep of varying lengths and gradients. For cylclists we are located just a mile of The Taff Trail National Cycle Route.
Walking, Hiking, Cycling, routes are in abundance. Horseriding available within walking distance. Many scenic drives in the area and further afield to enjoys, the hills, the mountains, resevoirs and waterfalls. In the historic town of Brecon there is the Cathedral, Y gaer which is the museum and library The Regimental Museum which houses lots of exhibits and information of The South Wales Borderers and their link to the Zulu Nation.
The book town of Hay-on-Why is just 10 miles away with Abergavenny 20 miles.

Because we are rural then a car is advised for your convenience. However, public transport is possible and we can have grocery delivery for most of the main supermarkets.
There is a mainline train service to Abergavenny or Cardiff - then a bus would be needed to Brecon or Llanfrynach which is just over 1ml away. The walk from Llanfrynach is along pleasant country lanes.
Guests will receive details directions of how to get to us and there is a convenient designated parking place.
