Penylan Farm is situated in the heart of rural, unspoilt Monmouthshire on a 90 acre working farm which was originally part of the famous Rolls Estate, home of Charles Rolls, co-founder of Rolls Royce.

The accommodation

A luxury conversion on two levels, The Mill has been elegantly furnished. Ground Floor: Entrance porch, bedroom with king size bed, en suite. Door leading to private south facing patio. First floor: Kitchen and living area.

Dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, microwave, electric oven, iron and ironing board, television with dvd player, hifi system. Parking for one car. Private patio with garden furniture. Heating, bed linen and towels included, travel cot and high chair available.

The location

The Mill is perfectly located between the dramatic Black Mountains and the beautiful Lower Wye Valley, with all that the contrasting landscapes have to offer. Penylan Farm was once part of the famous Rolls Estate formerly owned by Charles Stewart Rolls of Rolls-Royce and aviation fame.

Our area

Take our individually tailored walk from the Farm which takes you through the church where Charles Rolls is buried or join the Offa's Dyke walk which is approximately 2 miles away. For a more strenuous walk there is the Skirrid and Sugar Loaf mountain near Abergavenny or Table Mountain near Crickhowell all have fantastic views from the top.

Nearby are lots of great activities with canoeing on the magnificent River Wye and off road cycling in the Forest of Dean for all ability levels. Bikes can be hired from Pedalabikeaway. 'Go Ape' is also situated in the Forest of Dean for the more adventurous.

For a night out Monmouth offers both the Blake Theatre and the Savoy theatre and cinema (the oldest theatre in Wales)

Warwicks in Llantilio Crossenny (open Wednesdays to Sundays) is just 3 miles and The Stonemill Restaurant miles - both to be recommended. There are many eateries in Monmouth and if you want to venture slightly further for a special occasion visit the acclaimed Walnut Tree and The Hardwick, both near Abergavenny or the Michelin starred restaurant The Whitebrook.

Monmouth has a Waitrose, an M&S Food, a couple of good butchers and an excellent greengrocer.
