This former Georgian country farmhouse stands in one of the most enviable locations within the Snowdonia National Park and has been extensively refurbished to a high standard whilst retaining much of its original character.
We have 12 en-suite rooms: 2 twin, 2 family, and 8 double, all with a full size bath and shower, direct dial telephone, radio alarm clock, hairdryer, teletext remote control tv and tea and coffee making facilities.
A wide choice of cuisines freshly prepared from local produce are available in our licensed restaurant where you can enjoy your meals overlooking panoramic views of the River Glaslyn, Gelert's Grave and the impressive Moel Hebog.
We are just a few minutes walk from the centre of Beddgelert. Popular walking routes such as the 'Snowdon Horseshoe' are also only twenty minutes walk away, which makes Bryn Eglwys an ideal spot for those with mountaineering in mind. However, for those less adventurous, there are many short walks, locally including Beddgelert Forest, Gelert's Grave and the breathtaking Aberglaslyn Pass.
Bryn Eglwys is a no smoking hotel throughout.
Access Statement: Bryn Eglwys Country House Hotel was originally a farmhouse dating back to the late eighteenth century. The building has been extended and modified at various times in its history, and the setting and access reflect this.
The hotel and its large car park are reached from the main road via an unadopted road which has a tarmac surface. Cars can stop at the bottom of the steps that lead to the terrace from which the main hotel entrance is reached to disembark passengers and luggage. There are nine well lit steps from the car park level to the terrace with a sturdy, centrally mounted handrail. There is a further step, with no hand rail, halfway to the main door and the doorway itself has a small sill. All of this can be circumvented by using a side door into the lounge which bypasses all of the steps. Parking immediately outside this door is possible by prior arrangement.
All of the hotel bedrooms are on the first floor. Because of the age of the building there is no lift, and the first floor is reached by way of a normal domestic staircase which is well provisioned with a handrail. Of the twelve bedrooms two have two further small steps up to their door. All of our bedrooms are en suite with bath and shower, although all of the showers are over the bath. We do have a separate walk-in shower available on a non en suite basis.
Menus and tariffs are produced in large print for the benefit of the partially sighted and with prior notice Braille versions can be produced if required.
The owners live on the premises and are always available to help in any way we can. The true benefit of being a small hotel is that we are able to provide whatever assistance you need within the physical constraints of the hotel and its setting, whenever you need it.
