Hafod Cottage

Two cottages in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. In 30 acres of privately owned woodland they offer a striking sense of freedom and security. They are two-thirds of a mile from the road along a private track, in a highly scenic and secluded position. While perfectly passable to all normal cars, the track is rough, steep and narrow in places and may not suit particularly unconfident drivers. Out of sight of one another, the two cottages are 300 metres apart at different levels.

Excellent walks from the front door along a network of paths and tracks take you through deciduous woods protected by the National Park, National Trust and Woodland Trust and mixed forestry. The new Wales Coast Path is close by. A swimming lake and request stop on the Ffestiniog Railway are both within easy walking distance. Maentwrog village with a good pub is 2 miles away. Hafod's location 10 miles from Harlech's sandy beach and castle to the south and 10 miles from Snowdon to the north makes it an ideal base for exploring Snowdonia.

Sympathetically renovated and furnished, the cottage has wooden and slate floors throughout, and a wood burning stove in the main living area. It is surrounded by a large area of private garden with a table and benches for eating outside. Power is provided by a combination of wind, solar and mains electricity. Please note that there are steps down to the cottage, please contact us to discuss suitability if you have any concerns.

Access is along a two thirds of a mile track which is steep, rough and narrow in places. Perfectly passable to cars it is not suitable for unconfident drivers.

Accommodation

Ground floor: Large living room with sofa and armchairs. Wood burning stove which provides central heating and hot water. Well equipped kitchen area with gas cooker, larder fridge with icebox. Dining area with large wooden table and chairs to seat six. Large shower room with shower, washbasin, WC. Bedroom 1 with single bed and door to its own small walled garden.

First floor: Bedroom 1 with double bed. Bedroom 3 with small double bed and single bed. Duvet and pillows are provided without bedlinen (available for an extra charge).

Gas and a supply of logs or coal is included in the tariff. Electricity is charged at 20p per unit. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Washing machine, electric heater, stair gate, iron, ironing board, radio/cassette/CD player provided. Selection of books, CDs and tapes.

Hafod y Llyn Cottage - sleeps 5, 3 bedrooms (available during Easter, May half term and summer holidays). Pets accepted.

Hafod y Llyn is a large stone cottage in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. It stands on the top of a hill with fine views of the Manod, Arenig and Rhinog mountain ranges. It has a long open verandah with a table and chairs to enjoy the views. It is nestled in 30 acres of privately owned woodland in the hills above the picturesque village of Maentwrog.

The cottage has been sympathetically renovated and furnished. It has carpeted, wooden and slate floors throughout. It is heated by a wood burning stove in the living room which heats a radiator in the twin bedroom, and electric heaters in the bathroom and kitchen. It is surrounded by a large area of private garden with a table and chairs for eating outside.

Dining room with table and chairs to seat 5. Large bathroom with bath and overhead shower, handbasin and WC. Bedroom 1 with double bed.
