This charming spacious, rustic turf roofed woodland lodge merges into the trees overlooking a little rushing brook in the beautiful Towy Valley just a mile from Llandeilo, West Wales. It is fully equipped for 2 people with it's own private kitchen and walk in shower room (all wheelchair accessible) Very tranquil and private - a perfect nature watching perch, yet not remote, and easily accessible to all that West Wales has to offer. Otters have been spotted in the river as well as kingfishers, dippers Come to stay! You might be lucky to spot them from your super comfortable wildlife hide.

The accommodation

Spacious, comfortable, quirky, The Lookout is a completely individual glamping lodge, built by owners John & Mary from timber sourced on the property it provides all the comfort you could want from a hideaway in the trees.

The lodge has a lounge/dining area with woodburning stove and a sleeping area with superking sized bed which can also be split to make 2 singles. Big windows overlook the rushing Cib brook with it's series of little waterfalls.

Across the path is the kitchen with full gas cooker, fridge freezer, microwave etc... and a walk in shower room -plenty of hot water, both equipped with all you need. There is a covered dining deck with barbecue outside the kitchen and an alfresco bath with hot running water next to it. Another deck overlooks the river.

We provide all bedding and towels, wood for the stove, unlimited hot water

*Because of the drop to the river we do not consider the Lookout is suitable for small children.*

The location

The Lookout is located at Ty Cefn Tregib, which was the home farm for Tregib Mansion. John & Mary and their family have been welcoming holiday makers to Ty Cefn Tregib for over 25 years.

Surrounded by our own extensive gardens, fields and woodland, there are walks directly from here to Tregib Woods nature reserve and along the Cib brook with it's rushing waterfalls. We have direct access to the brook where there is a small plunge pool for the brave hearted. A wonderful shady place on a hot summer's afternoon. Llandeilo town is only 20 minutes walk away along the road or across the fields, and has a wealth of interesting small shops and good eating places. Our nearest village, Ffairfach, is 10 mins walk and has 2 local pubs with wonderful atmosphere and good food.

Our area

We are perfectly placed for exploring. We have Ruined castles - Carreg Cennen and Dinefwr are both nearby and there are many more ruined castles all along the Towy valley to Llansteffan Castle on the coast. Aberglasney gardens and the National Botanic Garden of Wales are about 10 minutes drive, NT Roman gold mines 20 minutes drive, You can walk to the National Trust Dinefwr park and Newton House. There are wonderful walks and cycling routes from the cottage and further afield mountain biking tracks at Brechfa Forest. We can suggest other cycling and walking routes which are less well known. The Gower and Pembrokeshire beaches are accessible by car in less than an hour and the Carmarthenshire coast is even closer! Oakwood theme park is about 45 minutes drive

Travel info

Easily accessible from the M4 motorway or via the A40, We have plenty of safe parking on site.

You can also come by train to Ffairfach station, a 10 minute walk away. (Links to Swansea or Shrewsbury)

Regular buses from Carmarthen or Swansea stop in Ffairfach or Llandeilo and link with National Express
