Iconic Welsh poet, author and screenwriter Dylan Thomas, though born in Swansea, had family connections in Carmarthenshire, and lived from 1937 until the end of his short life in Laugharne. He and his family moved to The Boathouse, an idylically set cottage right on the bank of the River Taf, in 1949.
