Nantifan Barn is a fabulous country cottage in a stunning, private setting with spectacular views of the Black Mountain, in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
We are just 5 miles from the pretty village of Llangadog with several pubs and shops, 13 miles from Llandeilo and 15 miles from the town of Llandovery. The gorgeous beach at Llansteffan is just an hour away.
Accommodation - sleeps 8, plus cot:
The barn offers spacious wheelchair-friendly accommodation and sleeps up to 8 plus cot. There are three bedrooms: on the first floor is the master bedroom with en-suite shower, loo and washbasin, and the ground floor there's a double bedroom with cot, and a twin. Further sleeping space for two more guests is available on request.
The main bathroom is on the ground floor, and has a bath, separate shower, toilet and twin wash basins.
All linen is provided, and extra is available if needed. We also have a utility room which includes a washing machine and a dryer.
The kitchen is very well equipped and includes a dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer, cooker etc, and there is seating for up to 6.
The living room has superb open views across the valley, and has a wood burner for which an initial supply of logs is provided - more can be purchased if needed.
Outside there is plenty of space for parking, plenty of room for children to safely play, and two paved areas with seating and tables which are ideal for barbecues and eating al-fresco. There is a lockable shed where we store the barbecue, and this also serves as a secure place for storing bikes.
Mobile phones: Network is available to EE users. Please note that as we are in a rural location we currently don’t have a 3G connection for internet users.
This peaceful and very beautiful part of Wales has a lot to offer visitors, whilst also being within reach of Pembrokeshire, Cardiganshire and the Gower.
The local village, Llangadog has pubs serving food, a garage which is open until 10.30pm, a general store, a newsagents, butcher, a railway station on the Heart of Wales line and a doctor's surgery. It is also on a local bus route. There's also the red kite feeding station within walking distance, where you can enjoy a closer look at these beautiful birds.
Walkers can take a picnic and discover Llyn y Fan Fach and the Black Mountain from where the views across the Carmarthen Fans and Brecon Beacons are breathtaking. There are plenty of local footpaths, ideal for families with smaller children.
As well as the wonderful countryside, there are plenty of activities too, including mountain biking, riding, indoor climbing at the Mountain Centre, and paragliding for the adventurous. Fishing is available in the nearby Usk Reservoir and the River Towy and we can advise about permits.
A little further afield are Brecon (30 minutes) and the chic town of Llandeilo (20 minutes) where you'll find a delicatessen, designer clothes shops, the Heavenly Ice Cream parlour and yummy cream teas at the Cawdor Hotel.
Nearby Myddfai is home to royalty: Charles and Camilla spend time here escaping the rigours of urban life, and so can you.
