Banceithin is a 9.5 acre smallholding nestled in a quiet and picturesque valley near the small village of Bethania, in Ceredigion, West Wales. Set between the Cambrian Mountains to the east and Cardigan Bay to the west, Banceithin is perfectly located for exploring the stunning scenery of the unspoilt Ceredigion countryside as well as the award winning beaches.

We have two detached self-catering holiday cottages at Banceithin, Hen Ffermdy cottage and Cwt Mochyn cottage. Both are renovated former farm buildings blending modern interior design and facilities with the character and original features of the traditional Welsh stone buildings.

Our goal is to provide the highest quality holiday accommodation while minimising the impact on the environment. Our principal aim is to run Banceithin and our self-catering cottages as sustainably as possible, and we were delighted to achieve a Gold level award in the national Green Tourism Business Scheme.

Cardigan Bay has a reputation for fine local produce, and the menus of many of the pubs and restaurants in the area regularly feature Welsh lamb and beef, fresh seafood and locally caught fish, along with local cheeses. At Banceithin we are lucky to have some of West Wales' best restaurants, as well as a country pub serving real ale, within 20 minutes drive.

Also, within easy reach of Banceithin are beaches, scenic walks, cycle routes, fishing lakes and rivers, golf courses and many other attractions.

But if you don't want to go anywhere at all, relax in the peaceful surroundings of Banceithin - listen to the frogs in the pond, watch the red kites soar above the fields, or maybe just spend your day chatting to the chickens.

Hen Ffermdy Cottage - sleeps 2

Hen Ffermdy is a former stone farmhouse which has been converted into a comfortable and spacious detached two-person cottage with mezzanine en-suite bedroom and wood flooring throughout.

It has an enclosed garden overlooking the surrounding valley, with a small lawn and patio, table, chairs and barbecue.

Inside, there is a spacious open plan sitting room/dining room with wood burning stove and LCD TV (with Freesat, DVD/CD player and iPod dock). A selection of books, CDs, DVDs, games and jigsaws are provided. For added nostalgia, there is a working 1950s radiogram complete with LP collection.

The well equipped contemporary fitted kitchen has a built-in microwave and separate oven, ceramic hob and fridge freezer. The downstairs cloakroom has a toilet and washbasin.

A spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite shower room and toilet.

Hen Ffermdy is not suitable for toddlers or older children.

Cwt Mochyn Cottage - Sleeps 6

Cwt Mochyn is a former stone barn with adjoining pig sty converted into a large single storey cottage which sleeps six.

An enclosed south-facing garden overlooks our wild grassland area and features a lawn and patio, table, chairs and barbecue.

The kitchen is modern, well equipped and includes a built-in microwave and separate oven, ceramic hob, fridge freezer, dish washer and washing machine.

Original stone walls and exposed wooden beams have been retained in the dining room, where French windows lead out onto the patio area.

The sitting room, which also features stone walls and exposed wooden beams, has a wood burning stove, LCD TV with Freesat, DVD/CD player, tuner, amplifier and speakers. A selection of books, CDs, DVDs, games and jigsaws are provided.

The three individually styled bedrooms comprise two double bedrooms (one with en-suite bathroom) and the third bedroom which can be set up with either twin single beds or one super-king bed as preferred.
