We are proud to provide a real home-from-home welcome with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. The warm and spacious interior provides a cosy retreat whatever the weather and there is plenty of room for all the family to relax and enjoy themselves. The kitchen/dining room is fully equipped for self-catering – including a dishwasher and washing machine – and there is a garden with table and chairs for relaxing/dining outdoors. There is also a spacious conservatory, wifi and a smart TV.

Whether your passion is beautiful scenery, beaches, steam trains, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, or even more adventurous pursuits, Machno holiday cottage is perfectly situated to enjoy the many delights North Wales offers.

The accommodation

Accommodation comprises: Bedroom 1 with king size bed, tv/dvd, radio alarm clock and built-in wardrobe. Bedroom 2 with two single beds and built in wardrobe. Bedroom 3 with one single bed and small built in wardrobe.

Bathroom with WC, over-bath electric shower, wash basin and heated towel rail.

Lounge, includes two leather double settees, and single leather chair. Also has Smart TV with Freeview, DVD player, cd radio, etc.

Fully equipped kitchen/diner with electric eye-level cooker, separate electric hob, microwave oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, DAB radio.

Kitchen leads to conservatory (with cane suite), and garden, and access to parking.

The property benefits from electric storage heaters.

All bedding, bed linen and towels are included. Electricity is also included in the price.

Highchair and stairgate available free of charge by arrangement.

The premises are non-smoking. No pets.

There is off-road parking (for one vehicle), provided to the rear of the property, with direct access to the garden. Minffordd is convenient for touring Snowdonia and visiting the Ffestiniog Railway (the oldest railway company in the world). Porthmadog town centre is only a short drive away with its many and varied shops, restaurants and public houses.

The location

Machno is situated in a quiet location in Minffordd, within walking distance of the world-famous Italianate village of Portmeirion, and in easy reach of the busy town of Porthmadog, which has a good range of shops and restaurants, as well as the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railways. About a mile in the other direction, Penrhyndeudraeth also has shops and take aways.

Our area

Machno is an ideal base for touring the wonderful mountains and villages of Snowdonia, and for visiting the many other attractions and places of interest in this beautiful part of Wales.

The Porthmadog area is encircled by mountains and sea, and is a picturesque gateway to Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula. There are many safe and spectacular beaches close by, including Black Rock Sands, Borth-y-Gest, Pwllheli, Abersoch, Harlech and Aberdovey, all of which cater for safe swimming and sun-bathing, with outstanding views.

Portmeirion Village & Gardens are within walking distance (1 mile), as are the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railways.

Porthmadog town centre is only a short drive away with its many and varied shops, restaurants and public houses. There are also shops, pubs and takeaways in Penrhyndeudraeth which is one mile away.

The more adventurous amongst you will be spoilt for choice. Attractions include Zip World, Quad biking, Bounce Below, and many opportunities for mountain climbing and biking. The trails at Coed Y Brenin are within easy reach. Snowdon is 20 miles away and you can either walk or get the steam train up to the top – booking ahead is recommended if you fancy the train option!

For golfers there's a number of courses, including the world-class championship links course Royal St David's at Harlech (15 mins drive), as well as Nefyn with its breath-taking cliff top setting, Abersoch and Porthmadog, which has stunning views of the Cardigan Bay coastline and Snowdonia mountain range.

The beautiful gardens at Bodnant, Plas yn Rhiw, Portmeirion and Plas Brondanw are all nearby and there are many castles to visit, including Harlech and Criccieth. There are also lots of attractions for children.

We provide a folder in the house with lots and lots of leaflets and information about things to do in the local area, but if you like to plan ahead, here are some useful links. Booking ahead is recommended for many activities!

Travel info

Machno is easy to find, just follow the signs to Portmeirion! There is off road parking for one car. Any other cars can be parked on the road or in the car park just over the road. There is a bus stop (100m) and Minffordd train station is nearby (500m - mainline & steam)
