Welcome to Cledan Valley Tipis. How many times have you looked for a break with a difference? Have you ever wished to give your family a different life experience? Perhaps even a honeymoon or anniversary with a twist? Have your kids ever slept in a tipi? Short breaks and holidays in Britain do not have to be in a caravan or chalet.
New for 2013 we have a cosy new shepherds hut complete with a woodburning stove and fully insulated walls, and a real mattress, Glamping was never so comfortable.
We would like to share with you some of the beauty of our unspoilt valley in the heart of picturesque Mid Wales. We aim to provide high quality, with a low environmental impact, tipi camping for families and couples. This is a holiday for the outdoor enthusiast, with fantastic walking, bird and animal watching and a whole host of other activities all set in beautiful scenery and fresh Welsh air.
We hope that you feel inspired to visit us after viewing these pages, but please bear in mind that sitting by a tipi, next to a babbling brook, in front of an open hearth fire is a million miles away from being at home in front of a computer screen and the turmoil and troubles of everyday life. For the real experience come and live the Cledan Valley Tipi way.
Since the 2008 season we have installed ozans in all of our Tipis as a guard against rain.
Although we are based on a hill farm in Mid Wales we have made every effort to also cater for disabled visitors - check out the Hare tipi.
If you want a specific date for a birthday, anniversary or honeymoon, we recommend booking early to get the dates you want.
The countryside around here is stunning, and the opportunities for cycling, walking birdwatching are tremendous. The coast is only 45 minutes away.
In addition to many birds, there is plenty of other wildlife in the area including badgers, foxes, otters, rabbits, squirrels, hares, mink and even the odd sheep. We are currently looking at putting up some owl boxes to encourage them to our site.
We now allow well behaved dogs, of course you must "pick up" after them.
The Aleppo Merchant Inn, The Talkhouse, The Brigands Inn, The Star Inn all offer good food, and there are many other pubs etc in the area. Tell us what you want and we'll try to steer you in the right direction. Or just dine outside.
Please bring your own sleeping bag or duvet and sheets, toiletries and towels.
We supply the tipi, futons for you to sleep on, mugs, glasses, plates, cutlery etc, cooking utensils, pots and pans etc. Firewood, gas for the supplied cooker, and a charcoal burning barbecue for each tipi. Rugs and seating. Blanket boxes in each tipi for storage and seating.
