Harlequin Puppet Theatre

The Harlequin, Britain's first and only permanent theatre designed and built for puppets, has, since 1958 entertained a vast number of adults and children and influenced the course of puppetry in Britain.

This charming theatre seating 120 people is situated in its tree shaded garden only a few yards from the sea. The building, an architectural prizewinner, is of wood, glass and local stone.

It's a perfect theatre in miniature with a delightful interior and comfortable seating for over a hundred people. It won a Civic Trust Award for its excellence and charm.

The Harlequin opens to the general public during seasons which largely coincide with the school holidays. Performances usually include several items and are aimed at a family audience, and shows are daily at 3pm. Also, on one or more evenings of the week, usually at 8pm, an alternative programme features material more suitable for adults or older children and allows for longer pieces and items of more mature content.

We are on the Promenade at Rhos-on-Sea, the charming coastal village between Colwyn Bay and Llandudno on the North Wales coast, Britain's famous permanent marionette theatre.
