A rear view of Hay Castle. The ruin of the Norman keep of the original stone castle, attached to the mansion which dates from the 1660s. A fire in 1939 badly damaged the eastern end of the mansion in 1939, and it now stands in a ruined state attached to the intact western end. The Hay Castle Trust, formed in 2011, now owns the site and has plans to preserve and restore the castle and mansion.
