The third marquis of Bute (born 1847, died 1900) was one of the richest men of his day. Son of the second marquis who built Cardiff docks, his interest in architecture led to him having Cardiff Castle and Castell Coch restored. This statue of him overlooks the castle walls in Cardiff.
