Just before the road to Devil's Bridge starts to descend towards Cwmystwyth, on the left is Gors Lwyd, a blanket peat bog which formed from a pre-glacial lake. The glacier which formed in the lake led carved out the valley, changing the course of the River Ystwyth which had previously flowed into the River Elan.
