Built in 1976, the Low Energy House at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Mid Wales is a super-insulated experimental prototype. It has floor insulation of almost half a metre, and quadruple glazed windows. Inside is the Whole Home Display which shows how to minimise use of finite resources. It stands in the Suburban Garden, which shows how a garden can be used for play and relaxation, food production, water collection, and as a wildlife habitat.
