Trallwm Forest Cottages

With 10 cottages set in 400 acres of a private working woodland there is something for everyone at Trallwm Forest Cottages.

The cottages are only 10 miles from Llyn Brianne Reservoir where you drive through the famous Devil's Staircase, visit Elan Valley and walk through acres of open land to the top of Drygarn Fawr (641m). The cottages are set in a beautiful unspoilt Welsh valley and private working woodland where you will find open land to explore, wood-fired hot-tubs, 4 mountain bike trails, wood burning stoves, wooden play trail, games room, landscaped lake and many walking routes.

For over 35 years these traditional Welsh slate and stone cottages have provided a warm and comfortable base to explore the beauty and attractions of Mid Wales.

The accommodation

Magpie - Sleeps 2. Magpie is a delightful cottage beside a mountain stream. Upstairs is a double bedroom with original beams. Downstairs is a lounge with a TV and DVD player. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen diner with an electric cooker and microwave, a spacious bathroom with a bath, basin and toilet, and is heated throughout with electric night storage heaters. We are sorry but we do not allow dogs in this cottage. There is a private wood-fired hot-tub on a raised deck and seating area.

Siskin - Sleeps 2. Named after the pretty yellow woodland bird that is often seen here, this detached, converted stone barn has much character. Downstairs there is a lounge with wood burner, television and DVD player. The kitchen diner has a microwave, electric cooker, fridge/freezer and tumble dryer. There is a shower room with toilet and basin. Upstairs there is a stylish double bedroom. We allow dogs in this cottage for £15 for Weekend/Mid-Week and £25 for week per dog. Kestrel - Sleeps 4. This 18th century, semi-detached, architect-designed, converted stone barn sits in Trallwm woods beside a mountain stream. Large double glazed doors lead into the lounge/diner where there is a wood-burning stove, TV and DVD player and an electric night storage heater. The well equipped kitchen is all-electric with a microwave, etc. Stairs lead up to a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a bathroom with wash hand-basin, bath, loo and heated towel rail. Red Kite - Sleeps 4. This 18th century, semi-detached, architect-designed, converted stone barn sits in Trallwm woods beside a mountain stream. Large double glazed doors lead into the lounge/diner where there is a wood-burning stove, TV with DVD player and an electric night storage heater. The well equipped kitchen is all electric with a microwave, etc. Stairs lead up to two small bedrooms built into the roof. There are two twin bedrooms and a bathroom with wash hand-basin, bath, loo, heater and heated towel rail. We are sorry, but we are not able to allow pets in this cottage. Tawny Owl - Sleeps 4. Hideaway in our woods. Tawny Owl is a detached architect-converted stone barn deep in the forest, beside a mountain stream - a real hideaway. The upstairs comprises one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. Downstairs, there is a large lounge diner with wood-burning stove, a bathroom with bath/shower, basin and loo. There is a kitchen that is well-equipped and has a gas cooker, washing machine, fridge freezer and microwave. No TV reception in this cottage but we have put in a DVD player, there is also a payphone in this cottage. We allow dogs in this cottage for £15 for Weekend/Mid-Week and £25 for week per dog. Nant Garreg - Sleeps 4. Nant-Garreg has lots of character with its inglenook fireplace and exposed oak beams. It has an integral garage. There is a patio and garden landscaped from the surrounding forest. We now have a HOT TUB in this cottage for your private use. The open-plan lounge /diner has TV and a DVD player. Heated with night-storage heaters there is also a cosy wood-burning stove. The kitchen has a dishwasher, electric oven, microwave etc. The bathroom has a bath with shower. Built into the roof there are 2 bedrooms - one double and one bedroom with 2 single beds. Nant-Garreg has a washing allow dogs in this cottage for £15 for Weekend/Mid-Week and £25 for week per dog. Trallwm Farmhouse - Sleeps 7. This 18th century farmhouse has much character. There is a lounge/diner with an inglenook fireplace in which sits a large wood-burning stove. The well equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, electric cooker and microwave. Downstairs, there is a double bedroom with en-suite shower and loo and whb. Another loo and whb. The upstairs rooms comprise a room with three single beds, a bathroom with bath, shower, basin and loo and another double bedroom. A lawned area with a picnic table is located outside its front door. There is digital television reception and a DVD player. We are sorry, but we are not able to allow pets in this cottage. Notes

We provide all electricity linen and towels. Logs are charged at £30 per crate for the wood-burning stoves and wood-fired hot-tubs (no wood-burner in Magpie).
