This converted 18th Century barn on the edge of the Brecon Beacons has been sensitively and elegantly renovated in a contemporary and individual style.

The accommodation

Well away from the main road, with no through traffic, the cottage offers a peaceful atmosphere, with only the occasional wild rabbit or woodpecker to disturb you. Sit and enjoy dinner or drinks outside on a summer's evening on the paved and lit terrace, relax with breakfast in the sunny living room, or curl up in the whirlpool bath with a book. It's the perfect setting for your break, whether it's a long luxurious weekend or for an energetic week of biking and walking.

The location

Nestled in the upper Swansea valley (9 miles from M4 Junction 45), on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Glyn Cynwal Isaf Cottage has views over The Black Mountain and is easily accessible to the Swansea and Neath Valleys. The glorious Gower coastline is also only a short drive away, with its sandy beaches, wildlife and surfing. Hay-on-Wye with its wealth of bookshops and famous festival, is only around an hour away by car, or come for the International Jazz Festival in Brecon every August.

If you don't want to venture further than a stone's throw from the Cottage, there are some beautiful walks on the doorstep, with a bridlepath running directly past the cottage. A ten-minute walk will bring you to Palleg Golf Club, an 18-hole range, open to the public. Or, take a short walk down into the village of Cwmtwrch and visit one of our friendly local pubs – you can take a break from cooking and have a great meal at The George Inn or the New Tredegar Arms.

We have had a wonderful week staying in a beautiful cottage which exceeded our expectations. We have enjoyed the mountain railway, castles, waterfalls and the leisure centre in Swansea. Still have many places to visit so will be re-booking. Thank you. (Family from Southampton)
