Penpont
Penpont is one of the finest houses in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. It offers a unique experience for you to enjoy a self-catering holiday in our courtyard wing. This grade 1 listed mansion was built in 1665, by Daniel Williams, whose decendants still inhabit the main house today.
Set in 40 acres of grounds (with no access restrictions), you can play tennis, walk in the woodlands and along the riverbank, explore the gardens, play games on the extensive lawn and lose yourself in our Millennium Maze.
Fishing permits are available, and there is a BBQ for alfresco eating
Accommodation
The Flat is a self-contained wing to the rear of the main house. It has its own entrance through an enclosed courtyard. The Flat has six bedrooms, and can accommodate groups of up to 17.
There is a sitting room with a woodburning stove, TV, DVD and video. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped with a large enough table to seat everyone; there is a fridge, microwave and dishwasher. There are 4 bathrooms (2 showers, 1 shower/bath & 1 bath) and 4 loos. There is a boiler room to dry boots, coats etc, the old wash house which has a ping pong table in it, and stables to store bikes etc.
The rental price includes all heating, logs, electricity, linen but not towels, bath mats, hand and tea towels. The central heating is provided by a large Biomass wood boiler supplying carbon neutral heat throughout the flat which is timed according to the weather and your needs.
Local Food and Restaurants
We can arrange for a local caterer to cook for you within the Wing. Alternatively there is a wide choice of gastro pubs and hotels offering excellent cuisine within a few miles of Penpont.
Taxis can be arranged.
We grow organic vegetables and fruit on site, and these can be purchase from our Farm shop. We can also arrange for organic local meat too.
Penpont Estate
Penpont Estate is a privately owned 2000 acre rural estate, set in the heart of the National Park. A majority of the land is taken up by livestock farming- sheep and beef, and this shapes the landscape that you will see, pastoral field scapes with woodland and hedgerows . The estate is biseccted by The river Usk, a SSSI, and this is a haven for wild life and fowl. Otters, Kingfishers,Heron, and Dippers are regular visitors.
There are wonderful walks within the area, and we can help direct you with maps and directions.
The nearest town is Brecon , 4 miles away, which serves most needs.
What to do
Along side what is offered on site, the area has a wide range of activities to choose from, canoeing, horse riding, Mountainbike trails, climbing,sailing, the list is long....
For wet days, a local cinema. swimming pool, or bowling rink can help alleviate the cabin fever. We are 1 hours drive from Cardiff and Swansea, and the wonderful gower peninsular with spectacular beaches hrs away. The book town of Hay is 30 mins away, and Brecon on our doorstep has much to offer. It is a great area to mix sporting activity with culture and urban activities.

The rental includes, electricity, heat,and logs for the woodburner.
You will need to bring your own towels.
Bedlinen and tea towels are provided.
We only accept cheques or cash. To confirm your booking we take a non returnable deposit and require the balance 2 weeks before your arrival.
