The accommodation

The caravan at Preswylfa is a well established and well equipped two bedroomed holiday base set in beautiful open countryside, with easy parking for two cars, boat and trailer, and a lock up for bikes. It is situated in a sunny position in an attractive cottage garden setting with seating provided in both open sunshine and in areas shaded by mature trees for the hottest days.

Bedroom 1: comfortable small double bed, cupboard, drawer and wardrobe storage.

Bedroom 2: two single beds, overhead child's bunk, wardrobe and under bed storage.

Lounge: spacious soft seating, cushions and throws, foldaway dining table and chairs, TV screen with a selection of DVDs (TV reception is poor), books, some games and toys. Good gas fire with surround protective fireguard if needed. Ample storage space.

Kitchen: Well equipped with efficient water heater, sink/drainer, gas cooker, microwave, slow cooker, kettle, toaster, fridge. All pans, utensils, crockery, cutlery, and glassware provided for 5. Cleaning pack plus vacuum. Ample storage. Complimentary teas, coffee and milk on arrival.

Bath/Shower room: sit or stand-in shower, mains toilet, wash hand basin, hot and cold water, shaver socket.

Outside: garden benches, bistro table and chairs, picnic table, 6 chairs, parasol, BBQ, clothes line, recycling facilities.

Please bring your own pillow cases, bottom sheets, duvet covers and towels. Duvets and plenty of pillows provided. Drying up cloths and hand towels, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, soap and loo roll also provided. Gas and electricity are included in the price.

The location

Private and secluded grassed areas offer a bistro table for breakfast in morning sun, space for lounging on sun chairs, safe children's play area, outdoor table, chairs and barbecue for those lunchtime or evening meals al fresco. Enjoy fresh breakfast eggs available from the owner. Make fresh, delicious meals with home grown vegetables, Welsh meats and cheeses, fresh bread, locally made apple juice, pick–your-own soft fruit in season and much more from Hooton's farm shop just 4 miles from the caravan. Fresh fish, crab and lobster in season are available; and more home grown vegetables can be bought from a road side stall a short walk away.

Our area

Fantastic locations await you, many within 10-15 minutes driving or cycling distance. Anglesey's spectacular 125 mile coastline is within minutes from the caravan, and the farthest points can be reached on uncongested roads in under 35 minutes by car. There are many beautiful clean, safe and serviced Blue Flag beaches all around the island. Search out Newborough, Llanddwyn, Rhoscolyn, Llanddona, Treaddur bay, Porth Dafarch for exceptional coastal scenery.

Dramatic sea-cliffs at South Stack include an RSPB bird reserve, café and information centre, and a tour inside the lighthouse is not to be missed. The long sandy beach fronting Newborough forest and the unrivalled Aberffraw beach with its extensive areas of sand dunes are perfect for family beach days, trail walking or cycling and sunset barbecues. Llanddwyn Island is the stuff of dreams and legends and its sandy coves, famous rock formations, light towers, Celtic cross, ruined priory and coastguards' cottages make it a natural choice for filming locations.

Nearby activities include horse riding, sea zoo and play park, childrens' farm, butterfly palace, rib rides and boat excursions, kayaking, bird watching, arts centres and galleries, bike tracks and many beautiful and accessible footpaths, some wheelchair friendly. Experience the traditional seaside bustle at Benllech or thrill to the new international kite surfing and wind surfing scene at Rhosneigr.

If you fancy a change from beach life head for Llanberis in the heart of Snowdonia, take the Snowdon train to the summit café, visit slate mines, ride the Welsh Highland Railway from Caernarfon through stunning mountain scenery to Porthmadog, try the UK's fastest zip wire at Bethesda or head out for a trail walk amid the splendour of the Snowdonia all within reach in less than an hour's drive. And don't forget the castles! – elegant Caernarfon, romantic Beaumaris, and stately Penrhyn all on your doorstep.

Or just unwind in your own private garden at Preswylfa with its' outdoor sunning and dining area, and safe children's play area within sight of your lounge window. Local footpaths and quiet lanes take you for short strolls into and around Dwyran itself, or down to the edge of the Menai Straits.

Eating out

Anglesey has a food renaissance going on - the famous Marram Grass at Newborough is minutes by car from the caravan, the intriguingly named Freckled Angel, Sosban and the Old Butcher's in Menai Bridge, the Midland tapas bar and the Loft in Beaumaris, the Oystercatcher in Rhosneigr, White Eagle at Rhoscolyn and Catch 22 at Valley to name but a few good food venues.

Dwyran has a garage, filling station and small shop. All major supermarkets are within easy reach, with two small supermarkets in the nearby villages of Newborough and Brynsiencyn. There is a Waitrose in Menai Bridge.

Notes

You can book by telephone or e-mail, and your booking is confirmed by sending a £50 deposit by cheque within 7 days. The balance for your holiday is due 2 weeks in advance by cheque or paid by cash on arrival. Please bring £50 in cash as a deposit against any breakage, loss or exceptional cleaning, returnable on the morning of your departure. As is usual, your possessions are covered by your own insurance.

Minimum stay is for two nights. During the summer holiday season prices for short breaks are negotiable. Arrival and departure - 3pm onwards on the day you arrive, 10am departure when you leave.

With regard to other holiday makers who may suffer allergies, regretfully pets are not accepted. Non smokers only please. Friendly owners are on hand for any help or advice you may need. Lots of information leaflets on local attractions. Gas and electrical certification.
