The Hawthorns

Talybont-on-Usk is set within the Brecon Beacons National Park, one of the most beautiful and imposing landscapes in Britain.

The Monmouthshire and Brecon canal flows through the village, the river Usk is nearby and the Wye is a short drive away. The National Park, with it’s stunning scenery of waterfalls, gorges, moorland, forests and rivers, stretches from Llandeilo in the west to Hay-on-Wye in the east and incorporates the Black Mountains, the Central Beacons and Forest Fawr.

A wide range of outdoor pursuits including canoeing, bird watching, fishing, mountain biking, paragliding and horse riding are available near the village.

Choose from a leisurely walk along the canal to more strenuous hill trekking and mountaineering; relax on a hired boat on the canal or sail on nearby Llangorse lake.Talybont is the starting point for many walks and cycle trails.

You will receive a warm welcome from Carol and Peter at The Hawthorns which is conveniently situated in a quiet location by the canal and draw-bridge with parking opposite for visitors to the village. This smoke-free B&B is close to the bus stop, with a daily bus service to Brecon, Crickhowell and Abergavenny and also near the shop/post office, cafe and excellent pub restaurants that serve good local food.

For directions to Talybont, take the A40 from Abergavenny (30 minutes by car) or Brecon (10 minutes by car) and look for the sign to Taybont-on-Usk. To arrive at the Hawthorns when coming from Abergavenny, drive past the local shop/post office then turn left over the drawbridge and we are the second cottage on the left.
