All our cottages are within the Trallwm Estate at the head of the Gwesyn and Cynffiad valleys. Both of these mountain streams flow down to Builth Wells, 13 miles away, to join the River Wye. Abergwsyn is the gateway to the spectacular mountain road to Tregaron and the coast.

The traditional slate and stone buildings, while preserving their essential character, provide a warm and comfortable base from which to explore Mid Wales.

The accommodation

Trawsgyrch is a traditional five bedroom 17th Century detached stone farmhouse has been tastefully renovated whilst retaining the essence of its natural charm. It is situated on a working hill-sheep farm beside a mountain stream.

Centrally heated with electric night storage heaters and wood-burning stove, Trawsgrych is a spacious family sized holiday cottage which sleeps up to 9 adults. Enjoy peace, tranquility and space with a large group of friends or family.

The ground floor is all open-plan. There is a kitchen/ diner with dishwasher and washing machine; lounge with inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove, a piano and a payphone; downstairs toilet with hand basin. The TV has BBC 1, 2, 3 and 4 and all radio channels, and there is a DVD and Video player.

On the first floor there is one double bedroom with en-suite shower, two twin bedrooms, a single bedroom and family bathroom with bath/shower.

On the second floor there is one twin bedroom and another living area.

One well behaved dog is allowed in this cottage by arrangement only at an extra charge of £3 per night per dog.

Our area

Within the forest there are many tracks for walking, jogging or mountain biking, and beyond the forest edge lies 20,000 acres of open moorland stretching across the Drygan (641 metres) to the Elan Valley and Devil's Bridge.

Coed Trallwm mountain bike trails on your doorstep to suit most mountain bikers. Forest Café open daily (31st March to 11th November), serving light lunches of Welsh Rarebit, home-made soup with home-made bread, toasted sandwiches, coffees, teas, home-made cakes and more.

Explore Mid Wales - the Elan Valley and Towy Valley reservoirs, Llanwrtyd Wells (7 miles) is the smallest town in Britain, famous for its Bog Snorkelling Championships. The Brecon Beacons (23 miles), the old market town of Builth Wells, home of the Royal Welsh Show (13 miles west), and the Dinas RSPB Bird Reserve, (12 miles) has an excellent two mile nature trail.
