New House Farm

We are situated in the heart of the countryside, providing a convenient base from which to explore all of the beautiful county of Pembrokeshire.

The 19th century stone cottages at Newhouse Farm offer a rural hideaway in a peaceful setting, perfect to return to after a long enjoyable day.

There are wonderful beaches and coves within easy reach for surfing, swimming or just beachcombing, castles and museums steeped in history and wonderful walks for the more energetic.

The accommodation

The Coach House offers lovely views over Great Treffgarne Mountain. It has a well equipped kitchen, sitting room with woodburner (there's central heating too), and two bedrooms - a double and a twin.

The Duck House has central heating, a double and a twin bedroom and the comfortable living and dining area also has a small double sofa bed and a wood burning stove. The separate fitted kitchen is also fully equipped.

The Old Stable is a cosy single storey cottage suitable for a couple. Comfortably furnished, it has a woodburner and central heating. There is a double bed and shower room.

All the cottages have their own outside patio area with barbecue and garden furniture, and there is ample room for children to play on the field.

The cottages have full central heating, electricity and hot water all included.

TVs with freeview, DVD players and radio/cd players.

Freshly laundered bed linen and towels are supplied on a weekly basis.

Purified water is from our own spring.

The location

The county town of Haverfordwest, 15 minutes away, has supermarkets and all the services you'll need.

We are situated between the coast and the mountains. Sailing, windsurfing, surfing, are all available, as are pony trekking, mountain biking, walking. Your idea of 'activity', however, may be painting, reading or just lying back and absorbing the atmosphere - the choice is entirely up to you. In the evening, you can admire the spectacular sunsets and, if you do not want to cook, you can enjoy either your own barbecue, or you can eat at one of the many nearby good quality restaurants and pubs.

Pembrokeshire is rich in wildlife from the dolphins and seals of the coast, to the otters and badgers that inhabit the countryside around our cottages. The islands of Skomer, Grassholm, Ramsey and Caldey are all easily accessed from the cottages. The area is also rich in history and culture. We are situated amid some of the most breath-taking scenery in Europe. The Preseli Mountains are our backdrop as we nestle in ancient woodland.

We are 8 miles from many sandy beaches and coves and the internationally famous coast path that runs for 180 miles along spectacular clifftops with panoramic vistas - the only coastal National Park in Britain. There is a beautiful 3 mile circular walk from our cottages, with views over the Preseli Mountains and Great Treffgarne Mountain.

Our area

Pembrokeshire offers a huge variety of activities from castles to theme parks, beaches to golf courses. It has abundant wildlife both on land and in the ocean and all set in the vicinity of The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the only coastal National Park in Britain. There are glorious beaches with huge tidal changes making it possible at times to wander around to a neighbouring bay (be tide aware though) wonderful hidden coves with rock pools and clean fine sand, wide, flat beaches ideal for children (and the larger children amongst us) and wild sea beaches for surfing. There are various sailing, surfing and windsurfing schools in easy reach.

The coastal path covers 180 miles of spectacular scenery from mountains to moorland, valleys and woods and the occasional pub or restaurant for resting those weary legs or maybe hire a bike or go pony trekking, all are accessible from New House Farm.

The castles are almost too numerous to mention, some are ruins and some are statuesque and whole but all are fascinating. Well worth a visit, even on a rainy day the atmosphere is almost tangible as you imagine what it would be like to live there. Crafts such as pottery, basket making, candle making, woodcarving, jewellery and art are dotted around the lanes and in the towns, where you can sometimes watch the craftsmen and women creating beautiful things. A particular delight is to go searching for an elusive gem deep in the countryside, you will be guaranteed to enjoy the search as you explore the lanes (taking care to avoid the tractors).

If it's towns and shopping that entice you then Tenby and Saundersfoot are only a short drive away with a variety of shops, restaurants and cafes, perfect if you like the hustle and bustle of a typical seaside town or take a trip to St Davids with its Cathedral to the north of the county where the landscape is more rugged.

There are theme parks and children's activities galore, again, all within easy reach or maybe a boat trip? Caldey Island is home to the Cistercian monks and it is possible to visit the island, also to the nature reserve, Skomer Island where you might see Puffins, Seals and nearly half a million sea birds.

Notes

Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead whilst in the confines of the grounds.

We also offer: full laundry facilities, cots and highchairs, a selection of indoor and outdoor games, puzzles, a small lending library of DVDs and books and flexible arrival and departure times (subject to bookings) plus a secure covered area for bicycles and surf boards and hanging space for wet wetsuits.
